A Földünk elképesztő. Több ezer festői helyszín, lenyűgöző természeti jelenségek és életformák millióinak otthona. Mindannyian elismerjük, hogy nem lehetünk közömbösek a bolygónkkal, de mégis megöljük. Azt gondoljuk, mindent ki fog bírni, de ez nem így van. Vegyük példaként a “szellem” halászhálókat: évente közel 640 ezer tonnát hagyunk az óceánokban, és mindegyiknek körülbelül 600 év múlva bomlik le. Az állatok ezrei csapdába esnek, a halaktól a bálnákig, és nincs semmiféle módjuk arra, hogy kiszabaduljanak.

Climate change, after all, has driven air and sea temperatures higher, which, in these creatures, favors female offspring. But instead, they found female sea turtles from the Pacific Ocean’s largest and most important green sea turtle rookery now outnumber males by at least 116 to 1.” This image shows a green sea turtle that drowned after getting entangled in fishing gear.
